Every Friday is Wisdom Friday.  It’s just a way for me to share with my readers the little gems of life that I’ve learned either during the week or living life in general.

Do you know the difference between listening and hearing?  The dictionary shows the following definitions:

Hearing:  To perceive sound by the ear
Listening: To make an effort to hear something

When somebody talks to you, do you just hear them, or are you listening to them? In other words, are you making the effort to hear what they have to say? I think in this day and age where impatience and instantaneity rule our world, we tend to hear more (and mostly cursory at that) but listen a lot less.  Whoever we are, practicing more listening and less hearing in any situation will serve us all very well!

Here is to a good weekend (perhaps filled with a lot more listening)!
